About Cassandra
With over 20 years of experience in teaching and performing music, Cassandra is a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, alto saxophone, and various percussion instruments. Always eager to expand her musical horizons, she is currently learning violin and hopes to add clarinet and cello to her repertoire.
After 11 years as a high school music teacher, Cassandra’s world changed when she became a mother. Immersing herself in the magic of early childhood, she discovered a deep passion for early childhood music education and its profound developmental benefits. Since then, she has dedicated herself to studying and refining her approach, ensuring a holistic and enriching musical experience for children aged 0-5. Her teaching draws from her diverse background as a musician, linguist, traveler, mother, and educator.
Cassandra’s love for music and education has taken her across the globe, teaching in NSW, London, Peru and Italy. While in Italy, she combined her expertise in music and language by teaching English through music, theatre, and play — an experience that continues to shape her dynamic teaching style.
She holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition, a Masters of Teaching (Music), and the Australian Kodály Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education (0-3 years). Passionate about continuous professional growth, she is currently studying Konnakol (South Indian rhythmic vocalization) and Rhythmic Neuro Gymnastics. When her two young children start school, she plans to pursue a Master’s in Music Therapy, specialising in early intervention.
In addition to running Little Maestros, Cassandra teaches in the ChiME after-school program at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music and leads Stage 1 music classes at Tarrawanna Public School through Conservatorium of Music’s in Schools Program.
